Our Mission

The Early Learning Center's mission is to foster health, empathy, and independence in our students, and to show God’s love to the community. We align with the Church’s mission of constantly striving toward a vibrant and growing family made truly and fully alive in Christ. To this end, the program aims to furnish a Christ-centered environment which helps children to feel safe and loved, and to develop agency -- the ability to act with confidence on their own. Our full-day services will include structured and unstructured play; art, songs and stories; rest times; outdoor exploration; physical challenges to improve motor skills, and many other sensory activities. Play-based Learning We believe that children learn best through play. It is is then our job to provide them with a safe, stimulating, and challenging environment in which they can learn through their natural curiosity. Carefully crafted, learning-rich environments ensure that each child can select a different item or activity, and learn from it. Our teachers and aides work as guides who encourage and reinforce the child’s natural attempts at discovery and mastery of new skills. Our play-based, child-driven program includes activities aimed at meeting the physical, social, emotional, cognitive and language development needs of our students.

Each Child is Valued

We recognize that each child is unique and capable of learning; moreover, each child enriches the learning environment. Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these” (Matthew 19:14, NIV). We acknowledge that children are important to God, and should be cared for assiduously. Children are entitled to respect, dignity, and opportunities to thrive, grow, and find their place within the community.

You Belong Here

Every child should have a sense of belonging in our classrooms. We encourage all parents and guardians to consider spending time within the classroom as a volunteer, even one day a month. We want you to look into our busy classrooms and see your children at play, but also to feel at home here yourselves. Finally, as one ministry of Saints Peter and Paul Lutheran Church, this Early Learning Center is part of a greater whole. We welcome you to participate in all of the church’s ministries and events. If there is something we can do to further meet the needs of your family, please let us know. We look forward to growing with you and your family.
